DC101 Halloween bash at Ballroom
80s cartoons were represented well |
Last Friday night was DC101's annual Halloween party and costume contest. Since the winner gets a grand prize of $3,000, tons of creative and hilarious costume ideas are brought out to the Arlington club.
Crazy huge homemade angel wings barely fit throught he door |
As always, a long line forms around the block for entrance into Ballroom around 10pm. But even those standing in line seem happy, as being in costume and "being seen" outside Ballroom is popular. The $15 to $20 cover and no re-entry rule didn't discourage people and Ballroom was filled up early.
Best costumes this year in my opinion were anything 80s cartoon related (pictured here is an amazing Thundercats get up), giant Bender and Beaker suits, and original couple sets like The Price Is Right contestants. Costumes to avoid included adult Alice in Wonderland, as there were countless girls wearing the same light blue short dress costume.

Wedding afterparty at the Continental
Simpsons arcade mesmerizing the groomsmen |
Coninental is much larger inside than I thought with bright, fun colors and friendly bar keeps. The lounge obviously has a number of pool tables, but many other games are available including basketball, skeeball and old arcade classics like the Simpsons arcade. Hidden away in Rosslyn on Fort Myer Drive, this fun bar is worth the trek out to the usually quiet Rossyln for.

Drunk driving late night accident in Clarendon
Photo via |
The great weather brought out a good sized crowd to Clarendon last night, and there is always alot of foot traffic right around the time bars close, but accidents like this are thankfully not that common.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the victim, who is in critical condition. The driver, according to ArlNow.com, was charged with DUI. This serves as yet another sober warning about the dangers of drinking and driving. There are so many other options of getting home safe after a night out in Clarendon, including my favorites of calling Uber Cab or Red Top taxi.
