Boots for Boots Haiti Fundraiser

This July 19 attend a Sunday Funday for a good cause with the Drinkers Who Do Good Shaw in DC. The Boots for Boots fundraiser at Dacha Beet Garden  is raising money for the Maison Fortuné Orphanage in Haiti. Their goal for the summer is to raise $2,600 to raise money to buy shoes for each of the kids.

From 12 to 3 pm, $10 donation gets you wristbands for $10 giant beer boots of Hefeweiss and Pilsner.  They also will have brunch options like Belgian waffles, bagel sandwiches, jalapeño mac and cheese, and bottomless mimosas. An Instagram contest for best picture tagged with #theDWDG will win a prize. There is also a 50/50 cornhole tournament for a $20 donation. Bringing cash is highly recommended since there is no ATM at Dacha.

Boxcar Collision and Haiti Concert @ Iota

To no one's surprise the the Haiti benefit concert tonight at Iota was packed to capacity. With more than a dozen local bands participating in this charity event to raise money for the Red Cross, Iota was definately the best place in Clarendon to spend this chilly Friday night in.

I was ablepush myself into the crowd to see my local favorite band Boxcar Collision on stage. Ashlee Wilcox was keeping the standing-room-only entertained with her talented guitar playing and vox.

A great night for a great cause! Thanks to all the other bands that came out to put on this memorable show.
