Justin Trawick Birthday Show at Iota

Come to Iota in the Clarendon this coming Saturday, Jan 21 night for Justin Trawick's Seventh Annual 29th Birthday Show! Tickets are $12 and the show starts at 8:30pm with Louisa Hall Music opening followed by Justin Trawick and The Common Good! This show will feature Justin's entire band including Jean Finstad on upright bass, Josh Himmelsbach on mandolin, Pete Daniels and Matvei Sigalov on fiddle, rapper Flex Mathews, plus special guests!

Justin Trawick and the Common Good is a high energy "urban americana” band packed full of emotional raw musicianship, heartfelt lyrics, and powerful harmonies.  Justin is a local legend in the Arlington music scene who is very active with solo projects, the Common Good band, creating the Nine Songwriter Series and the Circus Life podcast.  In February 2014 Justin won Song of the Year at the Washington Area Music Awards for his song “All the Places That I’ve Been." Happy birthday Justin!

Courthaus Social Anniversary

When the forgettable Velocity 5 announced it was leaving its Courthouse location, we had to wait years until Courthaus Social took over its spot in 2015. It was worth the wait, and worth checking out their first birthday party on Saturday May 21.

To celebrate, they are having their one year anniversary Haus party starting at noon on Saturday. They will have ten different breweries' beers at happy hour from 12pm to 7pm and live music starting at 10pm. Courthaus Social will continue their happy hour the following day and will last all day Sunday.

Don Tito one year anniversary

Happy birthday Don Tito! It's been one year since Scott Parker of A-Town fame took over the beloved Eventide space and transformed it into Clarendon's newest late night hotspot. With two levels of indoor bars, a rooftop bar with an amazing view, highly rated tacos and small Peruvian inspired plates, Don Tito draws a sizeable crowd every weekend. They are expecting a large turnout this Saturday, April 16 for their first anniversary party, so get there early before the line forms.

Rhodeside Grill's 20th Anniversary

Rhodeside Grill is celebrating their 20th anniversary in Arlington on Friday, April 15. For two decadeson Wilson and Rhodes street this has been an institution in the Courthouse bar scene, featuring good food, great staff and live music in the basement.

From 4-7pm, they will have original happy hour prices on draft beer and wine along with their own cocktail "The Roosevelt".

USMC Birthday and Veterans Day

Happy 240th birthday to the United States Marine Corps today, November 10 2015! Also wishing all those who have served our country the best on tomorrow's Veterans Day November 11. Despite it being a rainy day, the weather picked up at night and the gloom led to some great Instagram shots from the Iwo Jima USMC memorial in Rosslyn.

Justin is a huge influence in our music scene, with touring regularly with his band and organizing the Nine Songwriter Series. Darna 2 Year Birthday

Clarendon's hottest Middle Eastern themed venue Darna is celebrating its second anniversary this Wednesday, May 14. Translating as "our home" in Arabic, the modern lounge has become a second home to many DJs and clubbers in the area.

Even though it may be hard to find for newcomers being hidden off the main Clarendon strip next to a Jiffy Lube and an urgent care, it has greatly increased in popularity since its beginning in 2012. Since it took over the space from the Latin dance club Samba Room, Darna has seen many parties and events including the very popular Cinco De Mayo block parties.

This Wednesday join five spinners to celebrate Darna's fancy drinks, hookah on the deck and super cars in their parking lot with DJ Heat, DJ Khaleel, DJ Vicious, DJ Pouria and DJ Brad Piff.

This Friday, January 24 local musician Justin Trawick will be celebrating his birthday at Iota. His "4th Annual 29th Birthday Party" will start out at 8:30 with 9 Songwriter Series member Louisa Hall followed by Justin Trawick taking the stage at 9:15 with his Americana band The Common Good, featuring Josh on mandolin, Jean on upright bass, and Peter on fiddle. The party continues with gypsy brass band Black Masala taking the stage at 10:30. Cover is $12.

 - Fellow local blog Boobs Bacon Bourbon celebrated its first year in town.

 - Mad Rose has been here 2 years now.

 - Whitlows has been in Clarendon forever, but its Tiki rooftop bar turned 2 this month.

 - Clarendon Fitness has been helping us burn off happy hour calories for 3 years.

 - Lyon Hall and Northside Social are also both turning 3 in April.

 - Sister restaurant Liberty Tavern is 6 years old.

 - Rhodeside Grill just finished their renovations in time to turn 17 on tax day.

 - And this month is also my birthday, coming just after Clarendon Nights turned 5 years old!
