Thursday night Arlington Rooftop Bar and Grill hosted Hoops For Hope Sweet 16 viewing party. The night benefited Becky's Fund, a charity to raise domestic violence awareness by "leverag[ing] education, Web 2.0 technology and essential resources to enable critical one-to-one connections between victims and survivors." 

Big head spotted on Wilson Blvd

What's the story here?

Sunday evening around 6pm I spotted a man wearing a large... head walking down Wilson Blvd towards the Metro Station. It was quite odd as there was no one else with him, and he surprisingly had no issues balancing being ten feet tall.

Anyone have guesses on who he was dressed as? Some NCAA mascot or personality?

South Block St. Patty's Day Hangover Happy Hour

I recommend South Block for a St Patrick's day-after pick me up. Just grab one of their specials on Garfield and 11th Street as you pass by on your walk of shame. From 10am until 2pm Sunday they feature:

• $2 Iced Red Eyes (organic coffee with a shot of intelligentsia espresso)

Clarendon Ballroom rooftop opens Thursday

With high temperatures suddenly upon us, happy hours and nights out can once again take advantage of open air patios and rooftops in Clarendon. Whitlow's year old rooftop opened last week, and Clarendon Ballroom is preparing to open their massive roof this Thursday March 15. Arlington Rooftop Bar and Grill plans to open their roof on April 1. Also on Thursday, Eventide is opening up their smaller rooftop at 5pm.

Not only does Cava Mezze offer half price wine bottles on Monday, but also most of their small plate dishes are delicious. My current favorite is the "lollipop chicken" dish, which featured three drumsticks covered in sweet caramel and served on top of greek yogurt.
