Shirlington Girls Night Out April 5

Shirlie’s Girls Night Out is back at the Shirlington Village starting next Thursday, April 5, from 5-8pm. Many restaurants and shops will participate which specials and promotions, including:

• CakeLove: Buy 2 cupcakes, get one cupcake free.
• Busboys And Poets: the “Naked Strawberry” cocktail $12
• Capitol City Brewing Company: half priced “Signature Martinis” and half priced wine
• Cheesetique: 20% off all bottles of wine
• Dogma Bakery And Boutique: 20% off all cat products.
• Extra Virgin Modern Italian Cuisine: live acoustic music from 7-11pm
• Luna Grill and Diner: $5 martinis and cocktails and ½ priced appetizers.

Book Speed Dating Sunday

An interesting twist on speed dating is taking place at Shirlington Library tomorrow, Sunday Nov 20, at 6pm. In this second "Book Dating for Singles," participants bring several books they enjoy or are in-progress of reading and talk with other singles for three minutes. Extra Virgin Italian Cuisine in Shirlington Village will provide snacks, and there will be a drawing for a pair of Signature Theatre tickets at the end of the evening.

Busboys & Poets @ Shirlington

The third and first non-DC location of the popular Busboys & Poets venue is nested in the Shirlington town center.

The restaurant portion features some great dishes. They have interesting twists on classic sandwiches and the french fry wedges are extremely delicious.

There is also a bookstore portion to the restaurant if you feel like feeding your mind as well. Open mic poetry readings every Monday night at 8pm keep the spirit of the Langston Hughes-inspired venue alive.
