Clarendon Day Ice Breaker Party

Come on out to Clarendon Friday Night and Break the Ice this Friday Sept 26 at the Hard Times Café second floor and join a showcase of many of the musical artists of Clarendon Day along with award winning Bluegrass Headliners for the evening and the Highland Stage Saturday Cricket Tell the Weather! $10 cover, or free to all Chili Cook Off Contestants. Cinco De Mega-Crawl Saturday

Brace yourself for another large bar crawl in Clarendon this Saturday, May 3 filled with drunkenness and sombreros starting at 3pm. GoCityEvents, the organizers of Shamrock Fest, is throwing a Cinco de Mayo bar crawl with about 10 local bars including Clarendon Grill, Velocity 5, Mad Rose Tavern, Greene Turtle, Hunan One, Arlington Rooftop Bar & Grill, Mister Days, Wilson Tavern, and Hard Times. Tickets are about $18, but you can get them for $5 with promo code "CINCO" now. They are also offering a great deal with the super convenient car service Uber with a $40 credit for your first ride, also with promo code "CINCO".

Hard Times is Hokie Country

This Saturday, August 31 Hard Times is having a football kickoff party for the VA Tech and Alabama game at 5pm. Give-aways include 100 Hokie t-shirts and some Redskins and Capitals gear as well.  It looks like Hard Times isn't the only Clarendon bar for Hokies fans, as Wilson Tavern has also claimed that role before. There does seem to be a lot of Blacksburg transplants in the area though to create this demand. The real question is will the Hard Times' drink special include the VA Tech specialty The Rail?

31-40 Dating event at Hard Times Thursday

Date Social is having their second dating mixer in Clarendon this Thursday July 25 at Hard Times. At 7pm Date Social will host singles aging from 31-40 in a group dating environment. The deal is that "a maximum of 20 guys and 20 girls are split into groups of four each. Each group of guys spends about 12 minutes talking to each group of girls – long enough to make an impression, but not so long as to make things awkward. At the end, turn in your card with up to 5 people you'd like to see again. If there's a mutual match, we'll re-introduce you via email within 24 hours." Tickets to the event are just under $12 at Eventbrite which is being held in Hard Times' upstairs bar area.

Community Volunteer Network at Hard Times

The Arlington Community Volunteer Network (CVN) is having their monthly meet up at Hard Times this Tuesday, July 9. From 7-9pm you can learn more about the CVN and meet other members. The group is comprised of 20s and 30s locals who try to make a difference in the county through volunteering and socializing. For more details check out the Facebook invite here.

Free chili at Hard Times Thursday

Thursday Feb 28 is National Chili Day at Hard Times in Clarendon. You can get a free small bowl of chili with any other purchase all day.

Hard Times closed for remodeling

Hard Times is closing temporarily for remodeling and the addition of a new 3500 sq ft Sports Bar & Cue. Hard Times has reported spent $80,000 buying new TV's for the venue.

The addition will be on the second floor of the old Underwood building that is currently being flanked by the under-construction Clarendon Center.

Hard Times is a mainstay venue in the heart of the Clarendon strip, and offered night owls food until 3am. Looking forward to its return soon!
