La Tagliatella to open in Clarendon April 1
I really hope that this is not an April's fools day prank, but the restaurant La Tagliatella is set to open its doors this April 1. It will start serving Italian food on the cornder of North Garfield and Clarendon Blvd left empty by Restaurant 3 last year. They plan on serving lunch and dinner Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The restaurant is mostly an European chain, with 130 locations overseas and this Clarendon spot being their third in the US. La Tagliatella claims to feature "Italy’s rustic culinary traditions with a menu focused on fresh ingredients and eclectic flavors."

Restaurant 3 deal from Living Social today
The online coupon site Living Social, similar to Groupon, is offering a deal for Clarendon's Restaurant 3 today. For $20 you get a coupon for $40 worth of Restaurant 3 dining, drinks not included.
I think its worth it, as this sister restaurant to Whitlows can make a nice dining venue. Offer ends early tomorrow morning!

Restaurant Week in Clarendon
We are now in the middle of DC Restaurant Week which ends this Sunday, August 22. All participating restaurants, and there are many of them in the city, offer a $20 "three course" lunch and a $35 "three course" dinner. I use quotes here because some restaurants count your drink choice as a "course."I'm proud to add that many Clarendon restaurants are also taking part in this annual tradition, such as:
- Lyon Hall
- La Tasca
- Liberty Tavern
- Restaurant 3
- Sushi Rock
- Willow
- Sette Bello
- Tallula
- Harry's Tap Room

Travel Channel @ Restaurant 3 and Bacon Week
This Tuesday the Travel Channel was filming at Whitlow's owned Restaurant 3 for their bacon themed "Food Paradise" series. This was an exciting and busy night for the relatively new restaurant, especially with the warm weather and free pulled pork BBQ sandwiches attracting people to the outside seating.Restaurnt 3 offered a you-can't-get-enough-bacon themed menu, with bacon being an ingredient in the special three course menu, desert, and even a bacon infused drink! Pictured here is the pork chop main entree topped with yummy sauce and bacon bits.
The dinner was delicious, and my fears about too much bacon would over take the food was unfounded. Even the bacon ice cream desert was great, with just a slight hit of bacon. Also bottles of wine were half price, and my glass of Merlot complemented the pig themed dinner nicely.
Can't wait to see this local Clarendon venue on the Travel Channel!

Meet the Bloggers @ Restaurant 3
Clarendon Alliance hosted a very well attended networking event at Restaurant 3, the third venue opened by the owners of Whitlow's, this evening. The rear bar area was packed with local bloggers and businesses and provided a great place to match up faces to the names/websites that I've shared links with for the past two years. The Clarendon Alliance is a local association of business and government representatives that has been active since 1986.
Over the past five months there has been a dramatic increase in the number of local bloggers and writers around Arlington, and it is a great boost to have so much energy in the area. Looking forward to more Clarendon-centered meet-ups and collaborations!

Restaurant 3
The owners of Whitlow's on Wilson opened up their third restaurant last year, aptly named Restaurant 3.This offers a more upscale restaurant and bar than Whitlow's, but still has an American styled menu. There are some interesting items there, including the Chicken and Waffles dinner entree, of which I had to try out of curiosity.
I liked the venue, and would recommend it as a night date dinner place alternative.
