If you want to help out your favorite Clarendon venue but need to stay at home to help the fight against COVID-19, there are plenty of fundraisers and gift card options. Below are all the ones I know about in the immediate area.

There are still a number of restaurants offering carryout and sometimes delivery now.

Relay-Palooza Battle of the Bands at Jammin Java

Join Relay For Life of Northern Virginia for our annual Relay-Palooza Battle of the Bands kickoff celebration benefiting the American Cancer Society on Sunday, February 23rd 2020! Doors open at 12 pm and the event begins at 1 pm. Local acts may register to perform on the Jammin Java stage and then we need your vote to choose a winner. The winner of Relay-Palooza will get the chance to headline our 2020 Relay For Life event! This is a family-friendly event. Donations benefit the live-saving mission and programs of the American Cancer Society. Tickets $15 on Eventbrite.

Gooners vs Cancer at Irelands Four Courts

This Saturday August 24, Ireland's Four Courts is having a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphona Society. The pub is matching all donations up to $1,000 for the cancer fighting fundraiser Gooners Vs Cancer. Come for the DC United game on the TVs and great raffle prizes!

Arlington Cornhole Late Summer League


Arlington Cornhole is having their league playoffs at Mister Days starting 7pm this Tuesday, July 17. ACH started two years ago with a group of friends and has grown into a league of 80 people. Their seasons are 8 weeks long and played at local Clarendon bars, with proceeds being donated to charity. They have raised over $6,000 for charities including the Wounded Warrior Project, Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Baldrick's Foundation, The Carpenter's Shelter, Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, The Lyon Village Community House, The Arlington Housing Corporation, The Hurricane Maria Relief Fund, and Lucky Dog Animal Rescue.

If you want to join the fun, Arlington Cornhole's late summer registration is now open. Their season will run from August 7th through September 25th and will be played at Mister Day's and Whitlows. Food and drink specials are available along with all registration money going towards the winning team's charity of choice. $40 to enter and you get a t-shirt.

Barley Mac Yappy Hour

Barley Mac in Rosslyn is hosting a Yappy Hour dog friendly happy hour fundraiser this Sunday July 15.  From 4 to 7pm they will feature special cocktails and treats for your pup. This Monday Feb 12 7-9 pm at Board Room help support Dog Tag Inc. as they help wounded Veterans return to the work force. $25 contribution gets you a flight of Board Room Brews, 2 drink tickets and free games. Dog Tag Bakery will have a Pop Up selling their Valentine's treats.

Hurricane Fundraiser on Oct 8

This Sunday October 8 three Clarendon locations are contributing to hurricane disaster relief fundraisers. Lyon Hall, Citizen Burger and Whitlows will be donating money for every beer sold, with local brewery matching donations.

1-4pm Lyon Hall donates $1 per beer
3-7pm Citizen Burgers donates $1 per beer
6-9pm Whitlows donates .50 per beer

Red Cross Hurricane Irma Benefit at Iota

This Friday and Saturday night Iota is hosting a concert to benefit the Red Cross Hurricane Relief effort. The $10 suggested donations goes towards people affected by the recent Hurricane Irma. If you can't make the show, you can donate online directly. Since Iota will be closing for good at the end of the month, this may be one of their last charity benefit shows. Reston Bar Crawl for Fairfax Boxing Club

A former Clarendon resident created the promotion company Rabid Events to help fundraise for local non-profits. Rabid's first event is the bar crawl for the Fairfax Boxing Club being held this Saturday February 11 2-8pm in Reston Town Center. Starting at World Of Beer, portions of the sales will go to support the Fairfax Boxing Club which strives to mentor at-risk youth through boxing and to put them on a track of health, fitness, and community involvement. FBC will receive 25% of every sale and a percentage of restaurant sales as well. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 online.

Spider Kelly's Bar Olympics for MS

Join Spider Kelly's on Tuesday, May 24 for a night of fun and fundraising while  they raise money to find a cure for Multiple Scleroris! All money raised goes directly to the National MS Society. Teams of two people pay $10 each to compete in all of Spider Kelly's bar games, including darts, pool, shuffleboard, basketball and more to win these prizes:

Courthaus Social Toy Drive

This Sunday December 6, Courthaus Social is hosting a Brunch with Santa and toy donation drive for the 800 children in the DC General Children Shelter. From 12- 3pm on Sunday the OneUmbrella Foundation Toy Drive will be collecting toys or monetary donations for OneUmbrella to purchase toys. Contact Jessica Burns for more information.

Boo Bash Charity Benefit in Leesburg

On Friday October 30 RazorX2 is throwing a pre-Halloween party to raise money for local nonprofit organization My Girlfriend's House. Starting at 8pm, the Boo Bash charity fundraiser will be held at the Oatlands Historic House in Leesburg, Va. Costumes are encouraged for the event that includes a haunted Manor House, palm reader, psychic, raffle, and food and drink for purchase.

My Girlfriend’s House is a nonprofit organization founded in 2010 by a small group of motivated and professional women with a common desire to serve as positive role models to at-risk girls and young women within the Washington metropolitan region. Funds raised at RazorX2's Boo Bash will be used to assist My Girlfriend's House in the purchasing of additional curriculum and classroom material, in addition to allowing them to fund the involvement of at least 10 girls into their Girl Talk mentoring program for a period of 1 year.

Boots for Boots Haiti Fundraiser

This July 19 attend a Sunday Funday for a good cause with the Drinkers Who Do Good Shaw in DC. The Boots for Boots fundraiser at Dacha Beet Garden  is raising money for the Maison Fortuné Orphanage in Haiti. Their goal for the summer is to raise $2,600 to raise money to buy shoes for each of the kids.

From 12 to 3 pm, $10 donation gets you wristbands for $10 giant beer boots of Hefeweiss and Pilsner.  They also will have brunch options like Belgian waffles, bagel sandwiches, jalapeño mac and cheese, and bottomless mimosas. An Instagram contest for best picture tagged with #theDWDG will win a prize. There is also a 50/50 cornhole tournament for a $20 donation. Bringing cash is highly recommended since there is no ATM at Dacha.

Memorial fundraiser at Whitlows and Citizen Burger

Chris Barton lost his life early Saturday morning in Arlington, and his friends have expressed interest in helping with the costs associated with his service and transportation and have set up a GoFundMe page for donations.

Friends will be having memorial happy hours at Rock Bottom Tuesday, June 30 and at Citizen Burger on Thursday 6-9pm. Whitlows will also be raising money at their mug night on Thursday to assist his family.

Erica Paul Fabulous Cancer Fundraiser at Ballroom

This Saturday June 20 is the annual cancer fundraiser Chris4Life Colon Cancer Foundation at Clarendon Ballroom. The is the fifth year of this "Fabulous" event especially dedicated to Erica Paul, who lived in the DC area and died of cancer at 29.

The evening starts with a rooftop happy hour at 5pm. From 6-9pm the main dance floor will host cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, DJ Hurley, and a fashion show by Current Boutique and the popular fashion style truck The Pink Armoire.

Tickets are $30 for general admission, or $100 for VIP. Extra raffle tickets can also be bought online.

Clarendon Golf Tournament for Cancer Fundraiser

This Monday May 18 the Clarendon Business Association, including many local venues like Whitlows, is throwing its annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The event is in Dumfries, Va at the Potomac Shores Golf Club. Registration starts at 11am Monday and Shotgun start at 1pm. Foursomes are $600 (individual golfers are $150/person) and sponsorships are available. Both CBA and LLS are 5013c organizations. For more information, contact emmanuel@whitlows.com

Jimmy Fund cancer benefit at Bracket Room

Bracket Room is hosting a fundraiser to benefit cancer research this Wednesday August 27. From 4-9pm, 100% of all donations and 10% of sales will go to the The Jimmy Fund, which solely supports Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute raising funds for adult and pediatric cancer research. This night is a memorial fundraiser for Robyn Else Abrams, who passed at the age of 9. More info on the Facebook event page, and you can donate directly here.

Bar Crawl for LLS Saturday

This Saturday, August 16 a fun bar crawl for a good cause is hitting Clarendon called Light The Bar Crawl. This super hero themed event is raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to help fight blood cancers. From 1-5pm four local bars will participate with drink and food specials. Volunteers will be selling apparel and pint glasses with proceeds going to LLS. Whitlows has also stepped forward to pledge 15% of group sales will be donated back to LLS. Last year they raised $8,000 and plan to double that goal this weekend.

For a $20 ticket that helps fund LLS you get drink specials for one hour at each of these four locations:

Erica Paul Fabulous Fundraiser at Clarendon Ballroom


Clarendon Ballroom is hosting the 4th Annual Erica Paul Fabulous fundraiser event on Saturday, June 21. The night begins with a rooftop happy hour at 5pm and then food, dancing and a fashion "dress up bar" by Current Boutique and The Tailored Man. on the main floor 6 to 9pm. Drink specials include half price beer, wine and rail drinks. Tickets are $30 online or $40 at the door.

At the age of 26, Erica was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer. Instead of letting the devastating news stop her in her tracks, Erica began her fabulous journey of hope and activism. Through the many procedures, treatments, and surgeries, she always managed to flash that brilliant, fabulous smile. She began sharing her story in the hopes that others would not be stricken with such a terrible disease. On March 6, 2011 Erica lost her battle and passed away from the disease. In her honor, the Chris4Life foundation launched the Erica Paul Memorial Fund.

Melodime at Jammin Java for kids music charity

This Saturday, April 19 Virginia-based Southern-flavored rock band Melodime are playing at Jammin Java. Started by two brothers and their best friend in Northern Virginia, Melodime has evolved into a tour de force performing for thousands and touring nationally to well over 100 shows a year. The tour celebrates their latest album, Where the Sinners & the Saints Collide, and 100% of album proceeds are donated to the non-profit charity Now I Play Along Too which gives music instruments and education to kids around the world. The band will be conducting an instrument drive at this show - fans get in free if they bring an instrument to donate. Cover charge is $15 advanced or $18 day of. Music starts at 10pm and you also get to see Nelo and The Novel Ideas.
