Passers by who took up the offer could choose from one of 12 Red Velvet cupcakes, including the reliably delicious Cookies 'N Cream pictured here. With salads and sandwiches being served in a pleasent and open little seating area inside, I'm sure that Rabbit will do well in Clarendon when they open tomorrow.

Rabbit Preview Party Monday
So many new restaurants coming to Clarendon this month that it is hard to keep up! Here is one not to miss: Rabbit is having a preview party hosted by Bisnow this Monday. The price is $39 online or $49 at the door for an open bar and "power networking."
Rabbit will sit next to Pete's Apizza and will provide the are with soups, salads, sandwiches and Red Velvet cupcakes. As we all know, cupcakes are in short supply in Clarendon with only three other stores in walking distance offering them to go (Crumbs, Bakeshop, and Whole Foods).
Let the cupcake wars continue!

Tiffany Thompson at Jammin Java Sunday
Tiffany Thompson, a talented singer and guitarist who has frequented IOTA in the past, is playin at Jammin Java in Vienna this Sunday.
The DC Listener praisers her lyrics as "personal, yet ultimately positive, and do a good job of pulling the listener in. The disc’s ethereal pop/rock style is like something you might expect to hear from Natalie Merchant or latter day Emmylou Harris."

Local indie movie Nightstars on IndieFlix
Two years ago I got to be an extra in the locally made feature length indie movie Nightstars, and now its available on IndieFlix! I've bought it on DVD so I can watch my one 5 second scene that I'm in over and over again (it is also available as a 30-day stream for half the price of the DVD).
The movie is an original comedy/drama story about several sets of graduating high schoolers trying to find their way and crossing paths incidentally. It was a finalist at the SNOB movie festival, and you can also check out the trailers here.

KleptoRadio at Clarendon Grill Friday
I'm going to check out KleptoRadio as they return to Clarendon Grill tonight, Friday July 8. The band lives up to their name with a style that mixes together a variety of music genres. They describe their sound as ranging from "AC/DC to Stevie Wonder, hip hop to hard rock, saxaphones to samples."

Big Little Boy at LA Bar & Grill July 22
The LA Bar and Grill is one of my favorite hidden-away, low-key bars in the area, just south of Clarendon off Columbia Pike. They also host live music, and on July 22 the band The Big Boy Little will be playing LA Bar and Grill's Friday Night Music Series.
They are traditional blues band featuring The Big Boy (Bret Littlehales) on harmonica and vocals, Matt Kelley on guitar and vocals, Robby Leebrick on drums and Wolf Crescenze on bass. The band won the DC Blues Society's battle of the bands a couple of years ago and went on to compete in the Int'l Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN and made the finals.
