Reston Bar Crawl for Fairfax Boxing Club

A former Clarendon resident created the promotion company Rabid Events to help fundraise for local non-profits. Rabid's first event is the bar crawl for the Fairfax Boxing Club being held this Saturday February 11 2-8pm in Reston Town Center. Starting at World Of Beer, portions of the sales will go to support the Fairfax Boxing Club which strives to mentor at-risk youth through boxing and to put them on a track of health, fitness, and community involvement. FBC will receive 25% of every sale and a percentage of restaurant sales as well. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 online.

HAIM at U Street Music Hall Thursday

The L.A. sister trio band HAIM is invading the area this week and on tour in three locations. Alana, Este and Danielle Haim grew up in a family band, influenced by Kate Bush and Stevie Nicks as much as 90's R&B like TLC. They played at SXSW and toured with Mumford & Sons. They'll be releasing their debut full-length album in 2013 on Columbia Records. Their local tour includes two with Mumford & Sons at the Patriot Center (sold out) and Thurs Feb 14 11pm at the U Street Music Hall in DC. Tickets are $12 online, or $15 at the door.

Dolce Vita in Fairfax

A great little Italian restaurant named Dolce Vita is hidden away in Fairfax. This Zagat rated "best Italian food in 2006" venue also owns the neighboring Cantina, a smaller bar with the same menu.

The appetizers are spectacular - I would recommend the Tasca and probably the best Bruschetta I've had. The pasta also does not disappoint, and I was very happy with the filling and tasty Fettuccine Botticelli. Full menu here.

They also have live music with a violinist who walks through the establishment and serenades dinners with his great voice.
