Arlington Cornhole Late Summer League


Arlington Cornhole is having their league playoffs at Mister Days starting 7pm this Tuesday, July 17. ACH started two years ago with a group of friends and has grown into a league of 80 people. Their seasons are 8 weeks long and played at local Clarendon bars, with proceeds being donated to charity. They have raised over $6,000 for charities including the Wounded Warrior Project, Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Baldrick's Foundation, The Carpenter's Shelter, Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, The Lyon Village Community House, The Arlington Housing Corporation, The Hurricane Maria Relief Fund, and Lucky Dog Animal Rescue.

If you want to join the fun, Arlington Cornhole's late summer registration is now open. Their season will run from August 7th through September 25th and will be played at Mister Day's and Whitlows. Food and drink specials are available along with all registration money going towards the winning team's charity of choice. $40 to enter and you get a t-shirt.

Red Cross Hurricane Irma Benefit at Iota

This Friday and Saturday night Iota is hosting a concert to benefit the Red Cross Hurricane Relief effort. The $10 suggested donations goes towards people affected by the recent Hurricane Irma. If you can't make the show, you can donate online directly. Since Iota will be closing for good at the end of the month, this may be one of their last charity benefit shows. Reston Bar Crawl for Fairfax Boxing Club

A former Clarendon resident created the promotion company Rabid Events to help fundraise for local non-profits. Rabid's first event is the bar crawl for the Fairfax Boxing Club being held this Saturday February 11 2-8pm in Reston Town Center. Starting at World Of Beer, portions of the sales will go to support the Fairfax Boxing Club which strives to mentor at-risk youth through boxing and to put them on a track of health, fitness, and community involvement. FBC will receive 25% of every sale and a percentage of restaurant sales as well. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 online.

Spider Kelly's Bar Olympics for MS

Join Spider Kelly's on Tuesday, May 24 for a night of fun and fundraising while  they raise money to find a cure for Multiple Scleroris! All money raised goes directly to the National MS Society. Teams of two people pay $10 each to compete in all of Spider Kelly's bar games, including darts, pool, shuffleboard, basketball and more to win these prizes:

Courthaus Social Toy Drive

This Sunday December 6, Courthaus Social is hosting a Brunch with Santa and toy donation drive for the 800 children in the DC General Children Shelter. From 12- 3pm on Sunday the OneUmbrella Foundation Toy Drive will be collecting toys or monetary donations for OneUmbrella to purchase toys. Contact Jessica Burns for more information.

Boo Bash Charity Benefit in Leesburg

On Friday October 30 RazorX2 is throwing a pre-Halloween party to raise money for local nonprofit organization My Girlfriend's House. Starting at 8pm, the Boo Bash charity fundraiser will be held at the Oatlands Historic House in Leesburg, Va. Costumes are encouraged for the event that includes a haunted Manor House, palm reader, psychic, raffle, and food and drink for purchase.

My Girlfriend’s House is a nonprofit organization founded in 2010 by a small group of motivated and professional women with a common desire to serve as positive role models to at-risk girls and young women within the Washington metropolitan region. Funds raised at RazorX2's Boo Bash will be used to assist My Girlfriend's House in the purchasing of additional curriculum and classroom material, in addition to allowing them to fund the involvement of at least 10 girls into their Girl Talk mentoring program for a period of 1 year.

Boots for Boots Haiti Fundraiser

This July 19 attend a Sunday Funday for a good cause with the Drinkers Who Do Good Shaw in DC. The Boots for Boots fundraiser at Dacha Beet Garden  is raising money for the Maison Fortuné Orphanage in Haiti. Their goal for the summer is to raise $2,600 to raise money to buy shoes for each of the kids.

From 12 to 3 pm, $10 donation gets you wristbands for $10 giant beer boots of Hefeweiss and Pilsner.  They also will have brunch options like Belgian waffles, bagel sandwiches, jalapeño mac and cheese, and bottomless mimosas. An Instagram contest for best picture tagged with #theDWDG will win a prize. There is also a 50/50 cornhole tournament for a $20 donation. Bringing cash is highly recommended since there is no ATM at Dacha.

Melodime at Jammin Java for kids music charity

This Saturday, April 19 Virginia-based Southern-flavored rock band Melodime are playing at Jammin Java. Started by two brothers and their best friend in Northern Virginia, Melodime has evolved into a tour de force performing for thousands and touring nationally to well over 100 shows a year. The tour celebrates their latest album, Where the Sinners & the Saints Collide, and 100% of album proceeds are donated to the non-profit charity Now I Play Along Too which gives music instruments and education to kids around the world. The band will be conducting an instrument drive at this show - fans get in free if they bring an instrument to donate. Cover charge is $15 advanced or $18 day of. Music starts at 10pm and you also get to see Nelo and The Novel Ideas.

Guarapo Happy Hour for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Guarapo in Courthouse is hosting a happy hour for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on Thursday March 27. Starting at 6pm, a suggested $10 donation will get you hookah, sugarcane Guarapo cocktails and music by DJ Saam. The 20s & 30s Going Out Group is throwing this fundraiser to fight blood cancers with 80% of the donations will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. RSVP to the Going Out Group event page here.

Mustaches for MS at Whitlows Tues

This is the text This Tuesday, Feb 25 is the seventh Mustaches 4 MS party fundraiser from 6-9pm at Whitlows. Mustaches 4 MS is an annual fundraiser that raises money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Every February the men or Greenwich Village and Arlington grow mustaches to raise awareness. It then culminates in a fundraiser happy hour at 3 Sheets Saloon NYC and Whitlows. One person will be named "El Hefe" with the best facial hair.

Jason Letscher, longtime Whitlow's employee, founded Mustaches4MS in February 2008 after losing his mother to complications from the disease in October 2007, and turned it into a fundraiser to raise awareness for multiple sclerosis and money for research for the disease.

O'Sullivans Derby fundraiser for Doorways for Women

This Sunday, Feb 23, O'Sullivan's is drink and food specials, prizes and nail-biting horse races—all to benefit a great local charity! Starting 3pm the Clarendon Irish Pub will transform its bar and restaurant into an indoor derby on Sunday, where participants can join the derby fun for free and compete for titles like “Best Dressed,” or they can donate/bet on exciting horse races to win unique prizes. Attendees can buy in to serve as an owner, trainer or jockey for any one of the 70 horses in any race. There is no cover charge and all proceeds to benefit local charity Doorways for Women and Families.

Movember Party at Wilson Tavern

This Thursday, November 21 Wilson Tavern is celebrating moustaches and raising money to combat prostate and testicular cancer with their Movember Party from 8pm - 2am . "Movember" festivities typically involve growing as much facial hair as you can in a month to raise awareness for men's health and cancer prevention. Wilson Tavern is pitching in with giving away t-shirts to those who donate at the door, a prize contest for best 'stash, and proceeds for the night going to Movember.com.

Christmas Bar Crawl for Cystic Fibrosis Dec 14

Yes, it may be a little early to get into the Christmas spirit, but it's important to keep your December 14th weekend open for OnTap's Holiday Crawl for Charity. This holiday themed bar crawl hits eight great Clarendon bars and raises money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Tickets are only $10 and gives you access on Saturday Dec 14 from 3-9pm to specials and prizes at Clarendon Grill, Mad Rose, Mister Days, Mexicali Blues, Hunan Number One, Bracket Room and Sobe. Dress up in your finest holiday costumes and prizes will be awarded for the most creative costume, dynamic duo, and best dressed group.

Bracket Room benefit for Suicide Prevention

Clarendon's brand new bar Bracket Room just opened to the public tonight and its already planning another big bash. Next Tuesday, September 10 is owner Chris Bukowski's birthday and Social DC PR is organizing a charity fundraiser party that night. The proceeds will go directly to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention in memory of Chris' good friend, Gia Allemand who passed away early this month.

From 8pm to midnight, music will be provided by DJ Mario, birthday pie from Pie Sisters, and photography by John Robinson. Chris' favorite drinks will be the specials, including:

Social DC PR fundraiser for Make-A-Wish

Clarendon locals Social DC PR is celebrating their one year anniversary of organizing parties by having a party to benefit the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic chapter. The $5 cover into A-Town in Ballston will go directly to the $7,500 fundraising goal that is needed to grant one child with a life-threatening condition their wish. If you can't make it to this huge party on Saturday, August 17, you can donate directly to the fund here.

GMU Operation Smile HH at Greene Turtle


Thursday June 27 Greene Turtle in Ballston and George Mason University is throwing a happy hour to benefit the Operation Smile non-profit charity. From 3 to 9pm a proceed of all sales goes directory to this charity, which provides free surgery and medical care for children born with facial deformaties and cleft palates internationally.

Clarendon Grill ThanksUSA Benefit Concert

Clarendon Grill is hosting a benefit for military families on Sunday, June 23. The ThanksUSA charity provides scholarships and education support to military families, with music provided by cover band Partners In Crime. The $10 cover is donated to the cause, with the event going from 5-10pm. There will be drink specials like $2 domestic beers from 5-7pm along with prize raffles. Chris4Life at Clarendon Ballroom Saturday

You have until midnight Friday night to buy tickets ahead of time for the great Chris4Life fundraiser event at Clarendon Ballroom Saturday, June 22. This is the third annual event in the memory of Erica Paul, who fought against colon cancer and participated in mulitiple fundraisers but passed in 2011. Chris4Life provides grants to colon cancer patients in hope they can spend more energy on the fight to get well and less energy worrying about money.

Saturday's event will feature a happy hour from 5-6pm on Ballroom's rooftop followed by drinks, food, auctions and prize drawings in the main room 6-9pm. Tickets are $25 online before midnight or $30 at the door.

Mad Rose Bachelorette party and Crittenton Services fundraiser

Mad Rose is hosting a Bachelorette viewing party this Monday June 9 at 7:30pm. They will be watching someone named Brian Jarosinski try to win someone named Desiree's heart on The Bachelorette season 9 finalie, a show I obviously do not watch. But I will be attending because the $5 donation at the door gets you access to wine and beer specials and goes directly to The Crittenton Services of Greater Washington, a charity that encourages teen girls to stay in school, avoid pregnancy, and graduate from high school.

Also in attendance will be Chris Bukowski, who was on the Bachelorette show previously and is opening a new bar in Clarendon soon called Bracket Room. Th

Cancer Prevention happy hour fundraiser at Wilson Tavern

This Thursday June 6 Wilson Tavern is hosting a happy hour for a great cause from 5pm to 9pm. That night 10% of their bar and 100% of registration proceeds will go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's fundraising efforts for the 5k Walk/Run in September. The evening includes extended happy hour specials and a pair of sourviegner sunglasses. Tickets are $8 online or $10 at the door.
