Rosslyn Holiday Market with The Reflex

This Friday and Saturday, Gateway Park in Rosslyn is hosting the Fourth Annual Holiday Market. This year again we will be showcasing over 25 local and renowned vendors who will be offering a full variety of unique and high quality gifts.

Then at 5:30pm Friday the Pub in the Park opens with a cider, beer and wine area to enjoy along with food trucks and a photo booth. A DJ starts spinning at 7pm and from 8-11pm popular 80s band The Reflex takes the stage.

On Saturday the Market opens again after The Great Chocolate Racea five mile chocolate-themed race. That will be followed by a finish festival in Gateway Park, with food trucks and the bar opening early to serve hot chocolate and bloody marys.

80s Party at A-Town

On Saturday June 4 A-Town in Ballston is throwing a 80s themed party. This no cover event starts at 10pm and features a DJ spinning the best of the 1980s. A $250 A-Town gift card will be awarded to the person with the best 80s costume and brunch for up to 10 people for the best dressed group! Bottle service and table reservations are available by calling 7035281110.

The Wavos 80s band at O'Sullivan's

This Saturday, May 10  O'Sullivan's in Clarendon will be taken over by 80s hits thanks to The Wavos. More than just a cover band, these men in kilts will also thrown in some of their original songs described as a mix of The Killers, Green Day and Depeche Mode. The three piece band hails from New Jersey who have been touring for the past six years. You can check out some compilations of Wavo's 80s hits on Youtube here. Music starts at 9pm and there is no cover charge for the Saturday night show.

Velocity 5 closeout 80s party and fundraiser June 12

Next week on Wednesday June 12, Velocity 5 in Courthouse is throwing their last big party. Before the location becomes the German themed Social Haus, an 80's themed dance party is happening with music by the Screaming Monkeys. This combo event goes from 5:30 to 8:30pm and is both a throwback dance party and a networking event, featuring some free appetizers, drinks and valet for those who get there early. The event is free, but you can RSVP here.

The night will raise money for a local nonprofit FACETS, which operates in Fairfax to "end the cycle of poverty through education and counseling", by giving 20% of the bar proceeds to the charity. This is also the last event organized by HD Happy Hour, as have been acquired by the Washington Business Journal.

NYE Legwarmers at State Theatre

This New Years Eve I ventured into Falls Church to see the popular local 80s cover band Legwarmers perform to a large and brightly colored crowd. The State Theatre hosted the seven member band, which plays at this venue almost regularly.

More than half the crowd was dressed in over the top and fun 80s influenced fashions, including several Marty McFly and Top Gun impersonaters. My favorite was the super pink Jem (from the 80s cartoon Jem and the Holograms) singing along in the front.

The Legwarmers played two acts separated by an intermission that left us all exhausted from dancing so much. Catching a cab home was almost impossible from Falls Church, so I ended up paying the surge pricing and calling in a Uber cab. But to soften the blow of waiting in the cold for a taxi, Captain Cookie food truck was parked next to State handing out free cookies!

Friday Feb 4

State Theatre in Falls Church hosts the The Legwarmers for "DC's Biggest 80's Retro Dance Party". Showtime starts at 9pm, cover is $18. Thanks to Ashley H. for the tip.

Saturday Feb 5

Frontpage announced they are having a "80s party this saturday night and steak night monday night" via Twitter.

The Legwarmers return to State Theatre for another night of 80s retro beats, again starting at 9pm with $18 tickets.

Next weekend Feb 11th - 13th

If you are in the mood for skiing or snowboarding, take advantage of Ski Liberty's 80s themed weekend. Events include the 80's DJ at Boulder Ridge Snow Tubing on Friday, the 80's Fashion Show, the DJ on the Alpine Patio, the gnarly 80's Prom Saturday night with music by The Reagan Years.

IndeBleu and Chloe

IndeBleu features a swank first floor bar which offered a great deal of a $5 open bar until 10pm.

The music was loud enough to inspire quite a few people to start bumping on the "dance floor" section, while American Gangster strangely started being projected on two walls of the club.

I enjoyed the decor of the venue, but think the $5 coat check is pretty steep.

After leaving the always lively China Town, we found our way into an 80s night party at Chloe Adams Morgan. Despite the rain there was enough legwarmers and fanny packs to make the trip worthwhile, even if I didn't get a chance to grab a jumbo slice of pizza next door.
