This Saturday January 31 the colorful and energetic alt country/roots/twang sound of The Highballers returns to Iota. The group is four gentlemen and a lady comprised of vocalist Victoria
Patchen, guitarists Kendall Jackson and Sean Lally, drummer Drake Sorey,
and bassist Michael Barrientos. They have previously sold out shows at Iota with their loud unique Americana sound and sparkly guitars.
Sharing the stage with them will be Karen Jonas and Chris Timmerman of Union Street. Music starts at 9pm and cover is $12 for the entire night.

Highballers album release party at Iota
Local modern country rock band The Highballers are celebrating the release of their latest album this Saturday, January 11 at Iota in Clarendon. The self titled album The Highballers follows last years success of Soft Music and Hard Liquor. This five piece band is opened up by John Howie Jr. and The Rosewood Bluff starting at 9pm. Cover is $12.

Dia de los Muertos at Iota with The Highballers
Iota is celebrating the Day of the Dead this Saturday, November 2. For their Dia de los Muertos, local DC band The Highballers highlights the night with their Americana/alt country rock. Opening for them is the dischord-rock tunes of Alarms and Controls that will start at 9pm. Cover is $10 and also includes the aggressive electric guitar riffs of MusicBand.

Del Ray Music Festival June 22
Don't miss the Del Ray Music Festival this Saturday June 22, as its a free event from noon until 9pm and showcases many local bands. This is the seventh year the event has graced Alexandria, VA with the goal to "highlight, support, and showcase the local musical talent through a community event for families and children." The headliner for the event is Catie Curtis, with other bands on two stages including:The Walkaways

The Beanstalk Library
Tiffany Thompson
The Weathervanes
Kate Moran Band
Elroy Jenkins
Rock of Ages student performances
The event offers food from local Del Ray restaurants and is family friendly with a moon bounce and games for kids. They are also partnered with the non-profit all-volunteer Guitars not Guns, which aims to use music to inspire at-risk and underprivileged youth by providing music education and mentoring opportunities.

Boston benefit concert Thursday at Iota
Iota is hosting a great group of local talent this Thursday, May 2 to raise money for victims of the Boston terrorist attacks. There is a $10 minimum donation of which all proceeds will be donated to The One Fund Boston. The show starts at 8pm and the lineup includes:

The Highballers at Iota this Saturday
The Highballers are returning to Iota for their album release party this Saturday Jan 12. Charlie and the Contraband & Highballers at IOTA Monday
This President's Day, check out IOTA for a local band's first full show together: Charlie and the Contraband. The Texan alternative/country band is led by Charlie Harrison who played with Justin Trawik's songwriters series. Also that night, enjoy rock/blues tunes by The Highballers. Show starts around 8:30pm Feb 20 and tickets are at the door for $10.
