Some Valentine's Day events in Arlington

While most restaurants are booked to capacity on this popular night, you may be able to squeeze into Northside Social's wine bar. Set in their cozy upstairs bar that oozes romance, they feature a wine happy hour that is from 5 to 7pm and features two reds, two whites and one sparkling wine for $5 each.  A cheeseboard and two glasses is $21. This little wine and coffee shop owned by Liberty Tavern also made the Washington Post's most romantic DC places!

For a non-traditional V-day, try Arlington Cinema Drafthouse for their comedy night. Comic Rahmein Mostafavi weekly "Cool Cow Comedy Showcase" starting at 8pm. The show features multiple comedians in their small bar area and has a $5 cover. Then they are showing the classic Princess Bride movie at 7pm and 9:50pm.

A-Town in Ballston has about five tables currently available for their $99 three course menu for two. This includes a bottle of champagne, see the flyer on the right for details.

Eatbar is hosting an "Anti-Valentine's" day party tonight, featuring some drink specials and a homemade anti-Valentine's Card contest.

Wilson Tavern is open again after expanding, and is throwing a Love Bites Valentie's Day party. From 8pm to midnight condoms & candy necklaces provided at the door, and I think if you print out this page you get two drink tickets.

Justin Trawick at Iota tonight

The extremely welcome 80 degree weather today is definitely going to lead to a very packed and lively Clarendon tonight. I would suggest taking advantage ASAP of the venues that offer outdoor service, like Jay's, Hard Times, Mexicali Blues, RiRa, Liberty Tavern and the tiny alley of Galaxy Hut.

Later tonight check out the frequent Arlington favorite Justin Trawick performing at Iota. Also Arlington Cinema Drafthouse is hosting a MST3K "rifting" style live parody of Karate Kid. Make sure to check out the Drafthouse next weekend for the standup comedy of Kristen Schall from Flight of the ConChords and recently on Modern Family.

Lost Dog Cafe's new location

Lost Dog Cafe opened up a second location on Columbia Pike seven weeks ago. Located in a brand new mixed use building across from Arlington Cinema Drafthouse, it provides the same great menu as the first branch did but with a new and inviting atmosphere.

Lost Dog is both a chain of three restuarants (two Lost Dogs and one Stray Cat) and an animal rescue foundation. The restaurant features a huge menu of specialty sandwiches, fries, pizzas and "dog collar" onion rings. Everyone enjoys the wall-to-wall dog themed murals and the friendly wait staff.

Make sure to remember to get a very rich milkshake for carryout after your meal!

Seaton Smith @ Arlington Cinema Drafthouse

Every Thursday night Arlington Cinema Drafthouse hosts a stand up event with local comedic talent. The $5 show lasts from 7 to 8pm and features four different comics every week in a small, intimate setting.

This week's show was made worthwhile by the always funny Seaton Smith. Seaton has performed at many local venues, including the DC Improv and RiRa.

Seaton has a great comedic style, and I was very impressed that he did not reuse any of his previous jokes from when I saw him last at RiRa three weeks ago.

I love his flip-flops routine, never gets old!

Standup Comedy @ Arlington Cinema Drafthouse

Finally caught a stand up comedy show at Arlington Cinema Drafthouse tonight featuring three local comics.

The setting was very casual, with the comedians performing right in the grill area. With about 20 people in the crowd, it made for a cozy and light hearted show.

The food is decent, mostly typical American fare. I like the creative menu descriptions (with movie themes, so 'Deserts' were labeled 'Credits', etc).
