Crumbs Bake Shop

Crumbs Bake Shop in Clarendon had a very successful Saturday as it drew a "chaotic" crowd by giving away 1,000 free cupcakes that morning. The new bakery on Clarendon Blvd next to Red Mango  has many delicious offerings in different sizes ranging from the mini cupcakes to normal traditional to the mega huge $35 Colossal Crumb cupcake cake pictured here. They were open late Saturday night much to my delight, and a free coffee with any purchase. They should offer some stiff competition to Bakeshop on Filmore!

Free is nice, but the cupcakes are really not very good. Gigantism shouldn't be confused with quality. If you want a good cupcake, please take a walk over to Bakeshop and support Justin's excellent non-chain store.

I agree with you in supporting local businesses over chains David! But Crumbs has great cupcakes too, and I'm looking forward to an epic cupcake showdown between the Clarendon bakeries :)

I got the grasshopper and was a little underwhelmed... but I will have to admit the Artie Lange cupcake was dynamite. I'll have to check out Bakeshop next weekend.

I was eagerly awaiting Bakeshop but was seriously disappointed by the lack of inventory. You walk in and there are like 6 pitiful little cupcakes sitting there. I sure hope the owner does a lot of delivery or custom orders since there is less than $100 worth of merchandise available for walkin customers. I haven't been to Crumbs yet but I hope the selection is better.

I have given Crumbs three chances and they struck out. I bake myself and am very good but sometimes I get lazy and want to eat someone else's baked goods. Crumbs stinks!!!! Their cupcakes are dry and almost seem stale and I have gone into the shop first thing in the morning, mid-afternoon and at night and they are always the same--stale. I have tried the red velvet ( which almost made me sick it was so sweet), the chocolate with chocolate and a coconut cupcake. and what is the deal with all the sprinkles on top????? I thought Bakeshop was bad but this is much worse. Give me Georgetown Cupcake anytime. I will even wait in line for those but I won't take a Crumbs cupcake if it was given to me free....
