The Return of Dr. Dremo's?

The DCist is reporting that the owners of the once beloved Dr. Dremo's may once again bring the venue back to Clarendon. The bar and restaurant closed almost two years ago and auctioned off most of their equipment and decorations. Now it may return, this time closer to the Metro station and a little bit smaller in size.

I'm curious as to its physical location. Could Dr. Dremo's occupy one of the new light commercial spots under construction currently at Clarendon Center?

Andrew is talking about opening in Spring 2010, and renovating a space that exists.

So, no.

The type of location they choose will be very important. The atmosphere of the last building was one of the main reasons Dremos was so great.

I would guess the location is between Eventide and the Ballroom. They are currently building out that space and it seems about the right size.

I know the location, and it's none of the guesses so far... it's a bit small, but a decent outside area for seating. Very close to the metro though

I think Clarendude is on to something. The spot that used to be a watch store and record shop is prime location for a venue like Dr. Dremo's.

Josh, why bite your tongue? Tell us what you know =)

Thanks for the great comments!

Well he hasn't signed the lease yet, so he doesn't want to divulge the details really; I'm talking to him about investing in the place. Clarendude is wrong though

It wouldn't be the first time I was wrong ! But they are building that space out...if not for Dremo then something else! I would have guessed or hoped for the tire shop building behind (the former) Murkey coffee. That reminds me most of the old Dremo but I had already asked about that one and was told it wasn't suitable. It would make for a quirky venue though. There is a lot of space available in the Olmstead Bldg too with Steins, Lady Hamilton, Endependence Cnter spots all vacant. Such a drab building though.

There's a restaurant going in where murkey use to be finally... and another bar/diner going in at 3100 wash blvd, I believe right by the post office.

As for Dremo's Andrew was suppose to show the building to investors on Friday and/or Saturday, but I haven't heard from him in 5-6 days so who knows what's going on

Well, it sounds like the space where the watch store and record shop was will be an expanded Spider Kelly's. From the Washington Business Journal:
